Abstract

Objective : This study, targeting the chronic stroke patients, investigated how the application of the cycling and resistance exercise affected the quality of life, walking and balance.

Methods : In seven chronic stroke patients to target MMSE-K24 or more points, Seven people walking over 10m standalone targets for resistance exercise group (n = 1), cycling exercise group (n = 1) were classified. Resistance exercises employing thera band method of hip flexion, extension, adduction, abduction and knee flexion, extesion excercises was performed with 10 times 3 sets of each operation, 20 seconds rest between set and once for 30 minutes. Circulation exercise was composed of a total 30 minutes, for 5 minutes each of the six tasks of the program repeated four minutes per exercise, 1 minute rest. Conducted three times a week over eight weeks was walking before and after the start of exercise (10M Walking Test ), balance (functional reach arm , four square step), quality of life was evaluated by measuring the effects of exercise, compare the differences in the way of movement to have the amount of change before and after.

Results : The following are results of the study. significant difference was observed in all populations of both military between after exercise, and walking, balance ability and before exercise. Quality of life was also significant.
Conclusion : Quality of life was also significant. Circulation exercise group had more positive changes.
