Abstract

Abnormalities of pupillary response and eye movements have a great localizing value in diagnosis of the cause of coma and altered mentality. Therefore, skillful bedside neuro-ophthalmological and neuro-otological examination is necessary when assessing the patients with coma or altered mentality. In this review, the normal anatomical substrates and pathologic findings of pupillary reflex and eye movements, according to the cause and responsible lesion for coma, were summarized.
