Abstract
I. Introduction
Autogenous tooth transplantation of a third molar is an alternative treatment for replacing nonrestorable molar. Intentional replantation is defined as the intentional extraction of a tooth and its reinsertion into the socket after extraoral endodontic treatment. The following case report presents autotransplantation of 3rd molar and intentional replantation of persistent non-healing teeth.
II. Clinical case
1. Sex/Age: M / 29
2. Chief Complaint (C.C): I want to extract caries teeth (#36) and see if my wisdom teeth can be transplanted.
3. Past Dental History (PDH): N/S
4. Present Illness (P.I): dental caries, periapical lesion, foreign body in MC, gingival ingrowth,
5. Impression: Pulp necrosis with asymptomatic apical periodontitis on #36
6. Tx. plan: Extraction of #36, Autotransplantation of #38 to #36 with MTA application
1. Sex/Age: F/31
2. Chief Complaint (C.C): Continuing pain of #37 during root canal treatment
3. Past Dental History (PDH): Root canal treatment on #37 at LDC (From 5 months ago)
4. Present Illness (P.I): Pain (+), Per (+), Mob (-), temporary sealing state, distal wall loss
5. Impression: Symptomatic apical periodontitis on #37
6. Tx. plan: RCT, if needed intentional replantation on #37 with MTA application, crown restoration
III. Conclusion
Autotransplantation and intentional replantation with MTA regenerated the periapical tissue and satisfied the clinical, radiological and histological standard. Also autotransplantation and intentional replantation is a reliable and predictable procedure if carried out appropriately and in carefully selected cases.
