Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 은퇴자 부부들의 부부관계 체험을 깊이 있게 이해하고 이를 바탕으로 은퇴자 부부들의 부부관계를 유형화하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 은퇴한 지 5년 이내인 남편을 둔 은퇴자 부부 여섯 쌍을 대상으로 개별 면담을 실시하고, 지오르지(Giorgi)의 기술적 현상학을 이용하여 이를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 은퇴자 부부들의 부부관계 체험 내용을 기술하고 이를 범주화한 결과, 29개의 하위구성요소와 7개의 구성요소가 도출되었다. 도출된 7개의 구성요소는 1) 애물단지가 된 듯한 남편과 못마땅한 아내, 2) 상실감으로 괴로운 남편과 위로해주기 싫은 아내, 3) 보상을 기대하는 남편과 간섭으로 느끼는 아내, 4) 체념하는 남편과 내버려두는 아내, 5) 혼자 해결하는 남편과 귀찮게 여기는 아내, 6) 관계 회복을 위해 애쓰는 남편과 아내, 7) 자신과 배우자의 내면을 재인식하는 남편과 아내로 나타났다. 둘째, 은퇴자 부부들 부부관계 상호작용 양상에 기초하여 은퇴자 부부들의 부부관계를 다섯 가지로 유형화하였다. 마지막으로 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 예비은퇴자 부부들이나 은퇴자 부부들의 부부관계 향상을 위한 다양한 방안들이 논의되었다.

The purpose of the present study is to undertake a phenomenological study of the lived experiences of retired couples and to classify the types of marital relationships by means of a qualitative method. To accomplish the objectives of this study, research data have been collected by interviews with six retired couples whose husbands retired from their jobs within 5 years. Data were analyzed using Giorgi’s Descriptive Phenomenology. As a result, seven major constituents and 29 sub-constituents have been identified. Based on the lived experiences presented in the marital relationships of retired couples, their martial relations have been categorized into five types according to the aspects of the couple’s interactions. The aspects shown in marital relationships of retired couples are found to be a process of readaptation to maintain the marital relationship. Therefore, investigation into those factors would enable us to better understand the retired couples and be helpful in carrying out counseling them.
