Abstract

본 연구는 지팡이 및 고령자용 보행차를 사용하고 있는 재가노인을 대상으로 하여 이들의 복지용구 사용경험을 심층적으로 분석하였다. 복지용구의 적절한 사용은 노인의 삶의 질 향상에 기여한다. 그러나 복지용구 사용에 따른 다양한 도전은 복지용구의 사용을 방해하는 것으로 나타난다. 본 연구는 재가노인의 복지용구 사용에 따른 신체적이고 심리사회적인 도전의 경험을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 심층면접을 이용한 질적 연구로써, 의도적 표집방법에 의해 모집된 8명의 재가여성노인이 연구에 참여하였다. 노인장기요양보험법에서 제공하는 16종의 복지용구 중 1개 이상을 사용하고 있고, 인지적으로 건강하고, 구어적으로 의사소통이 가능한 요건이 표집기준이 되었다. 확보된 자료는 지속적 비교분석 기법을 통해서 분석되었는데, 최종 6가지의 주제로 범주화되었다. 첫째, 건강 및 보행기능에 대한 주관적 인식, 둘째, 복지용구 사용 전의 심리상태, 셋째, 복지용구 사용에 따른 심리적 도전과 영향, 넷째, 복지용구 사용에 따른 신체적 도전과 영향, 다섯째, 복지용구 사용에 따른 사회적 도전과 영향, 여섯째, 복지용구기능에 대한 주관적 평가. 본 연구는 사회복지차원에서의 실천과 정책영역에 대한 함의를 제공한다.

This study was to explore community-dwelling elders` experiences with assistive devices such as canes or wheeled walkers. Qualitative study by in-depth interviews were used to achieve a deep understanding of experiences with assistive devices among community-dwelling elders. The participants were recruited by purposive sampling. The requirements of participants were their usage with one assistive device at least among 16 assistive devices provided by long-term care services and their voluntary participation in this study. Participants were cognitively intact and verbally communicative. 8 female elders participated in this study. They were users with canes or wheeled walkers. Data were analyzed constant comparative method. Final 8 major themes were categorized as follows: (1) The subjective perception of health status and walk function (2) The psychological status on the users of assistive devices before using them (3) The psychological challenges and impacts along with using assistive devices (4) The physical challenges and impacts along with using assistive devices (5) The social challenges and impacts along with using assistive devices (6) The subjective evaluations about functions of assistive devices. This study suggested some implications from social welfare education and practice, long-term care policy, and senior-friendly industry.
