Objective: The aims of this study were to determine whether polymorphisms of the interleukin-6 promoter might be associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer.
Methods: The bloods were obtained from healthy women(n=130), and patients with cervical cancer(n=109). The IL-6 promoter was examined with allele-specific PCR method. The clinical characteristics of patients were compared between two groups.
Results: There is IL-6 -572 SNP. The genotypic distribution in cervical cancer patients were GG genotype 55(50.5%), GC genotype 45(41.3%), CC genotype 9(8.2%). There were no stastistical differences of each genotypes between control group and cervical cancer group.(p>0.05).
Conclusion: Our results suggested that SNP of IL-6 promoter is not related with the carcinogenesis of cervical cancer.
