This study was designed to empirically confirm that social support was a predictor of QoL(Quality of Life) of widowed elderly women medicated by physical-cognitive function and self-efficacy. To investigate causalities of constructs, 263 cases of widowed elderly women were analyzed by basic statistics and structural model analysis. Followed were the selected contributions of the present study. First, social support for widowed elderly women was a relatively strong predicator of physical-cognitive function. Second, social support was a direct/indirect predicator of self-efficacy mediated by physical-cognitive function. Third, social support was also a direct predictor and an indirect predicator of QoL mediated by physical-cognitive function and self-efficacy. Fourth, physical-cognitive function was a predictor of self-efficacy, and self-efficacy was a predictor of QoL. Consequently physical-cognitive function was a predictor of QoL mediated by self-efficacy. The contributions suggested our society needed various social support programs such as interactive-customizable elderly exercise and/or dementia prevention programs, for widowed elderly women to improve physical-cognitive function leading to self-efficacy and QoL.
